My first FaceTime lesson, I felt almost like the student was in the same room! I now have a few students who most commonly FaceTime.

For most students, I’m finding that the audio and video quality of FaceTime is overall just slightly better than Skype, so it’s a winner for many students.

There are definitely students for whom Skype, and to a lesser extent Zoom, end up having fairly comparable quality. But there are those who have far better audio quality on FaceTime than on Zoom, and far better video quality on FaceTime than on Skype.

Right now, my students are split about evenly 3 ways between the 3 platforms, with Zoom offering the most features, and Skype offering better audio quality than Zoom, in my experience with flute.

I’ll be posting another entry directly comparing these 3 options, and why my students and I choose different platforms for different students. Stay tuned!
