Here are a bunch of videos of some young flutists – I have one below of group classes of  young beginners – age 4-6 – mostly in the first months or year of lessons. Following that, there are some clips of kids between the ages of 4 and 9, mostly within their first couple of years of lessons. And finally at the bottom of the page, the kids in the middle group of soloists several years later as a teen flute choir. I hope you enjoy the progression!

Above – The Story of Red Squirrel’s Dream – made up together in group class. The kids came up with most of the idea’s for sounds and story line to include in this performance of 4-6-year-olds.

Below, Hot Cross Buns in four part harmony from a group class a few years earlier.

And below, a few solo pieces from past recitals. (For now I’m omitting the kids’ names while awaiting confirmation of the ok – and will probably leave all unnamed unless everyone wants me to list them!). From left to right: the folk songs Cuckoo, Moon Over the Ruined Castle, then third is Allegro by Shinichi Suzuki, 4th Lullaby by Schubert, and on the right, Reichert’s Melancholic Fantasy. Below this row are flute choir videos between about 6-8 years later – with mostly the same kids as middle school and high school students!

And several years later, the same kids:

And here they are joined with the younger kids for Takahashi’s rousing version of Mary Had a Little Lamb:

I look forward to getting back to recording current student recitals more regularly! Apologies for the “old style” quality on these older videos in the meantime. And please do look for my students in the future as we continue to build the Montpelier Vermont studio and begin with a fresh new start at Seven Stars Center for the Arts in Sharon and the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire!
