This presentation will be in my hometown of Middlesex, at the Rumney Memorial Elementary School on Shady Rill.<\/p>\n<p>Presentation topics will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a look at the\u00a0cultural context of practicing a musical instrument<\/li>\n<li>defining and contrasting &#8220;intrinsic&#8221; and &#8220;extrinsic&#8221; motivation<\/li>\n<li>nurturing intrinsic motivation<\/li>\n<li>appropriate uses of extrinsic motivation<\/li>\n<li>recent research regarding the significance of balance between\u00a0intrinsic and extrinsic motivation<\/li>\n<li>the significance of routine<\/li>\n<li>a realistic look at the challenges and potential benefits of helping kids develop joyful and productive practice routines in our culture<\/li>\n<li>Q&amp;A during and following presentation<\/li>\n<li>informal conversation following the presentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is Lisa&#8217;s\u00a0second presentation of this format.
