Saturday May 10 at 7:00 PM I’ll be playing with Raymond Karl Malone at the North Branch Cafe at 41 State Street in Montpelier. \u00a0Come enjoy music, tea, wine, dessert and\/or a light meal! Click here for more information about the North Branch Cafe, including menu offerings, on the North Branch of the Winooski River in the heart of downtown Montpelier.\u00a0<\/a>Plan to arrive early for optimal seating.<\/p>\n

We’ll start with a set of works for flute and viola, including Carl Nielsen’s “Faith and Hope are Playing,” Devienne’s “Duo No. 1 for Flute and Viola,” Hoffmeister’s “Duo for Flute and Viola.” After a short break, we’ll resume with duos for Flute and Violin, including some Telemann as well as some arrangements of popular tunes, hymns, and some fun surprises!\u00a0\u00a0You can click here to join the conversation about this event on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A bit of biographical information from my colleague and friend Raymond Karl Malone:<\/p>\n

Raymond Karl Malone violist and violinist is on the faculty of the Monteverdi Music School\u00a0in Montpelier,Vt. as well as at Johnson State College. A very active pedagogue, his\u00a0students are numerous and many have gone on to further studies in music here in Vermont\u00a0<\/span>and in New York and Massachusetts. Not new to Vermont, Mr. Malone has participated in\u00a0numerous musical ensembles including “Arioso” with area singers Linda Radtke and\u00a0Marjorie Drysdale. In 1999 he joined conductor Catherine Orr and the Montpelier Chamber\u00a0Orchestra for performances of the Beethoven Violin Concerto and acted as the orchestras\u00a0concertmaster for one season.<\/p>\n

Mr. Malones’ Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 15 was made under the auspices of \u00a0“American Youth Performs.” While as an undergraduate at Boston University the\u00a0opportunity presented itself to travel to Berlin and perform under the now legendary
\nHerbert Von Karajan at the Philharmonie in Berlin Germany.<\/p>\n

His two most influential teachers have been Roman Totenberg violinist and George\u00a0Neikrug,cellist– these during his undergraduate studies.\u00a0In New York, his graduate studies at The Manhattan School of Music included Lilian Fuchs\u00a0in chamber music and violin studies with Erick Friedman,(Jascha Heifetz’ protoge).<\/p>\n
