\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The development of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy began with his\u00a0realization that, just as all children learn to speak their native tongue at a\u00a0very young age, so can all children learn and benefit from music. Dr. Suzuki\u00a0developed his method based on recreating, as much as possible, the\u00a0conditions involved in learning to speak.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>The primary aim of the Suzuki philosophy is to enrich children’s lives\u00a0through the joy of music. Students build self-esteem, confidence in meeting\u00a0new challenges, self-discipline, and concentration. Success in playing is a\u00a0natural outcome of these aims, as each student unfolds and develops ability at\u00a0her\/his own rate of development.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/b>Children can begin formal instrumental training as early as age three.\u00a0<\/span>Generally, one parent attends lessons and assists the child with home\u00a0practice. Students listen daily to recordings of the repertoire, and initially\u00a0begin to play by ear, with reading postponed until aural and instrumental\u00a0skills are well established. Once pieces are learned, they are frequently\u00a0reviewed, serving as carefully selected building blocks which lead to\u00a0successful completion of future pieces. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/b> While an early beginning is strongly encouraged when possible, many older\u00a0<\/span>students find that the methodology is well suited to students of all ages and\u00a0levels. It is often the fastest way to build skills to a high level while refining\u00a0a student’s aural capability in numerous ways. For more advanced students,\u00a0it can be a relatively easy and fun way to systematically build fundamental
\nskills in flute playing while eradicating habits that are less constructive.<\/span><\/p>\n
