Bobby and Allan’s wedding was a stunningly sweet occasion, filled with vivid and poignant moments. Thanks so much to Kathleen “North” Porter’s breathtaking photos, we all have a chance to glance back to this beautiful day! It’s well worth a look at her slide show and blog entry at http://north-photo.com/?p=3404 (scroll to the bottom of the page for the lovely slide show). I’m totally a sucker for the look on the face of a groom in love, so here’s two of them!

It’s always a great pleasure to work with officiant Greg Trulson, a real artist in his ability to set everyone at ease and affirm the great value of everyone present. Megan Schultz was the extraordinary wedding planner – both weddings I’ve done with Meg have had some unusual challenges that have been almost completely unnoticed by virtually everyone present – I can’t say enough about Meg’s capability for making things go seamlessly regardless of whatever unexpected circumstances may occur.

Bobby and Allan chose a trio of Alto Voice, Flute and Piano for their wedding music. This was a new trio put together for this occasion. We all immensely enjoyed working together and greatly look forward to another opportunity to make music together! Linda Radtke was the vocalist, quite well know to Vermonters for her extraordinarily rich voice, Linda is a member of Counterpoint and frequent choice soloist, recently for the Messiah and too many others to list. Some may also know her as the radio announcer for the Classical Station based in Stowe. Alison Cerutti was the pianist extraordinaire, first choice pianist for top musical organizations throughout the area. I’ll be putting Linda and Alison up on my web site soon – so hopefully soon you’ll be able to get a bit more detail about these two amazing musicians!

Bobby and Allan chose “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera for the end of their prelude, as guests were arriving. For their processional, they chose “Sinfonia” from Cantata 156 by J.S. Bach, played by flute and piano.

Bobby and Allan made two special requests for music during the ceremony. They had a special “cord ceremony” involving friends wrapping a cord around them both, a Filipino tradition. During this cord ceremony, they requested the popular Filipino song “Ikaw.” Linda sang in the original Tagalog language – which turned the heads of a few native Filipino speakers! The song lent itself well to a flute descant along with the piano accompaniment, so we found great enjoyment in putting this arrangement together!

The second special request for music during the ceremony was Etta James’ “At Last” during the candle lighting and meditative moment. It was pure joy to listen to Etta James’ YouTube video recordings and coordinate the flute harmony with the piano, and to hear Linda’s heartfelt rendition of this classic love song. What can I say – I totally love my work!

Every time I see the picture below I get totally teared up – just can’t imagine anything sweeter than this picture of Allan presenting a rose to his mother.

After the ceremony, we moved downstairs for the reception, and a few more special requests, such as “I’ll Cover You” fromĀ  the musical Rent, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King, and “Sun and Moon” from Miss Saigon. Other selections for prelude and reception ranged from Bach, Handel, Beethoven and Schumann to additional pop selections and hymns.
