Natalya and Ben were married on June 9, 2012 at the Edson Hill Manor in Stowe, Vermont. It was one of those stellar June days – not hot, not cold, sunny, flowers everywhere.  Here are a few pictures I took prior to the wedding.

I was so happy to see that the lilacs were still in full bloom (below)! It was not a good spring for lilacs in Vermont, and it seemed that they were long past most places – but then here they were!

Natalya and Ben chose “Turidae” flute/violin duo for their wedding. Their music selections were a beautiful balance of traditional choices with some unique choices mixed in. For prelude, they chose a mix of upbeat classical and Celtic. Ben chose “The Kiss” from “Last of the Mohicans” for his own and the groomsmen’s entrance – Mariah played the bass accompaniment – a rhythmic, percussive harmony under the flute melody. I caught a quick shot of her warming up, below:

Natalya chose “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” for the wedding party processional, and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” for her own entrance. And the recessional was the traditional Mendelssohn “Wedding March.”

Above is a distant shot of the beautiful stone staircase that was used as an entrance to the ceremony site. All parties opted to start the recessional AFTER they had made it to the bottom, to avoid a lot of attention navigating the stairs! You can see a close-up view of the bottom of the stairs if you scroll to the bottom. I absolutely love those stairs – and totally understand why some brides choose to descend them during the processional, and also why some brides avoid using them at all – I’ve now experienced three different variations on that choice for weddings at Edson Hill Manor. In all cases, they’re a gorgeous backdrop!
